Cub paddleboarding

A big thank you to the SUP team who have been running paddleboard days for Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. These days have proved to be a lot of fun with young people building their confidence on the water. Sessions are planned so as to work for both beginners and those with some experience.

The cub day saw over 50 cubs attend. Sessions start with a safety briefing and on land skills session before taking to the water and basically learning through having fun. The team has a range of games and activities that help build both skills and confidence.

In addition to those leaders who are on the water, there is a land based team. This is essential both for safety and also lets us sign in arrivals for the next session. You may think of this as “work” but it is surprisingly relaxing being around water and so many people with positive vibes and a great attitude.

Feedback from parents after the cub day was incredibly positive. You could see some of the youngsters were incredibly nervous ahead of joining and to see them smiling after a session having enjoyed themselves is incredibly rewarding as you can see how that is going to help build their confidence.
